The symposium takes place in the Internationales
Wissenschaftsforum Heidelberg (IWH), which has been established
in 1986 on the occasion of the 600th anniversary of the University
of Heidelberg as a center for scholarly exchange in all areas of
science and academic research. It is sponsored by the University of
Heidelberg.
11 rooms are available in the IWH itself, while the other
participants will be staying at Hotel
Goldener Falke in five minutes walking distance.
Travel information
In this google map (view larger), all points of interest to the symposium are labeled:

→ The most
convenient airport is Frankfurt (FRA), which is about 1 hour from
Heidelberg with the airport shuttle service. The shuttle service
will take you directly to your hotel. When returning to the airport,
the shuttle will pick you up at the hotel again, or at any other
location (e.g. the IWH!) that you inform them about in advance. Please contact us
to arrange a different pick-up location or to confirm your departure
shuttle
→ If you arrive via train to Heidelberg main station, it is probably most
convenient to take a taxi to either the IWH or the Hotel Goldener
Falke, since both are located on the other side of the old
town. Alternatively, you can use the S-Bahn train, going 1 stop to
"Heidelberg Altstadt/Karlstor", for example the S1 direction
"Osterburken", the S2 direction "Eberbach" or the S5 direction "Eppingen".
→ In case you want to use public transport within Heidelberg (timetable in English, map of
lines), you first
need to reach "Bismarckplatz", where many bus and tram lines
meet. From the main station, you can reach "Bismarckplatz" via buses
32 (direction Universitätsplatz) and 33 (directon
"Ziegelhausen"), as well as with tram lines 21 (direction
"Bismarckplatz") and 5 (direction
"Schriesheim" or "Weinheim", leaving on the side towards Heidelberg
main station, i.e. don't cross the tracks).
→ From "Bismarckplatz", to reach the IWH, take bus 33 (direction
"Ziegelhausen") or 35 (direction "Neckargemünd"); for both exit
"Neckarmünzplatz".
→ To reach the Hotel Goldener Falke and Hotel Weißer Bock, you can take the same buses, same
direction, and in principle also exit at the same stops, but for bus
33, the stop "Rathaus/Bergbahn" is more convenient.
→ The above google map shows you the bus
stops, the hotels and the IWH.
→ If you travel by car the A5 and A6 are the closest autobahns
to Heidelberg. When you are on the autobahns, take the exit onto the
connecting autobahn A656, which will take you directly to the city centre of Heidelberg.
